The Class of 1966 celebrated its 50th Reunion on Homecoming Weekend
at Kean University, gathering in the Dave Gibbons Conference Center in
Kean Hall to reconnect, share their stories and take in all that Kean has
become since their college days at Newark State (as Kean was formerly
known). For some attendees, the October 2 reunion was the first time
they had returned to campus in decades. Needless to say, they were
awestruck by the look and feel of the campus, and the world-class
welcome they received from the Kean Alumni Association.
Kean University Provost Dr. Jeff Toney greeted the attendees and talked
with pride about Kean’s history and its future.
“It is always a pleasure to spend time with alumni and not only share our
experiences, but answer their questions about what is in store for Kean
in the future,” Dr. Toney said.
Dr. Toney challenged each attendee to share something they learned
while attending Newark State. Many recited the motto: He who dares to
teach must never cease to learn. It was clear this group has not ceased
learning from the many accomplishments and travels they shared.
