The Omega Sigma Psi 50th anniversary,
held at the STEM Building of Kean
University, was a night of celebration
for more than 100 sisters. Active sisters
re-connected with alumni over dinner,
drinks, and dancing. They shared blue
and brown memorabilia from their time
at Kean, and spent the evening pouring
over photos and scrapbooks from the
past and present. The event concluded
with a video presentation about the
sorority’s history and where it is today, as
well as an awards recognition ceremony
led by current president, Emily Cubilete,
and social chair & event organizer,
Giulianna Viera.

Mentoring Program
The Kean University Alumni Association, with the help of the
Alumni Leadership Initiative committee, launched a pilot
mentoring program in the spring of 2015. The pilot included
21 pairs of senior class students and alumni. The pairs were
matched up using the mentoring platform, Chronus, which
based the pairings on factors such as similar interests and
overall compatibility. The group met and matched up for
the first time at a kickoff event in January, after the mentors
had participated in an orientation and training session. The
pairs were tasked with coordinating a face-to-face meeting
together once a month, to discuss topics such as networking,
interviewing, career prep, and mentor/mentee assessments.
Since the success of this initial pilot, the program has been
expanded for the fall of 2016 to include 50 pairs of seniors and
young alumni with alumni professionals.
